For Science week, the children in Reception have learned all about different types of materials. We sorted them into whether they were soft, hard, flexible and transparent. This even inspired us to create sock puppets using a variety of materials such as plastic, fabric and even wood. We had so much fun!

The Reception children have been introduced to the story of Stanley Stick and therefore decided that they would create their own stick man using a variety of resources. Wow! Amazing!

Reception went on an Educational Visit to the Deep in Hull as part of their Blue Penguin Topic. During the morning session, we saw a variety of amazing sea creatures, most children’s favourite being the Penguins. During the afternoon we took part in a very interesting workshop all about the importance of recycling. We even got to meet Sammy the Seal (an incredibly friendly puppet) who explained how sea creatures are under threat due to the great amount of waste materials which enter the ocean.

The Reception children (and the teachers) were so excited to receive a reply from The Three Bears in response to their letters. The Three Bears even sent a gift of their favourite fruit for us to enjoy. Thank you to Noreen Khan our governor for her help with this.

The children in Reception have been reading the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears. After reading the story the children thought it would be a good idea to write a letter to the Three Bears from Goldilocks to say sorry for breaking their chairs.

The children have enjoyed learning about Armistice day. They even made their own poppies using bun cases, lolly pop sticks and black felt tip pens.

The Reception children have enjoyed learning about how to keep safe on Bonfire night. They have also made Firework pictures using art straws, paint and glitter.

The Reception children have been practising counting using items from the Home corner. What items do you have in your house that could support your child with counting?

The Reception children have enjoyed making faces using a range of different objects.
