‘Celebrating success together’
We aspire for all our children to become motivated, confident and caring individuals who achieve personal success and develop a life-long love of learning.
At Horton Grange Primary School we are proud to be an inclusive school where we work together to challenge, inspire and motivate all children to become successful, confident and caring citizens of our diverse world. We work together to create a happy environment where all members of the school community enjoy a stimulating and caring environment that allows our pupils to develop as individuals and have high aspirations for the future.
We promote a culture where pupils are engaged, believe that they can succeed, take responsibility for their learning and develop as independent learners.

Entitlement at Horton Grange Primary School
As a pupil at Horton Grange Primary School what learning opportunities can I expect? Some of the activities and events you will experience at Horton Grange are outlined below.
Visit somewhere new!
Our vision is that children will learn through a curriculum that offers as much experiential learning as possible. Part of this learning is the range of educational visits we offer our children. During their time with us children will be given the opportunity to visit a farm, zoo, aquarium, museum, the seaside, a Viking village and a cave. These are just a few of the places you will visit as a pupil at Horton Grange. We also provide the opportunity for parents and carers to visit new places with our regular parental visits.
Visitors in School
These visits are enhanced by the range of visitors who we invite into school to support your learning. These include theatre groups, musicians and actors. These people will help you to have a better understanding of the topics in your year group and will teach you a wide range of new skills and knowledge. Your parents can also be involved by coming to watch you performing some of your new skills. Every child will also learn to play the recorder, along with singing and dancing lessons.
Keeping safe and healthy
At Horton Grange we feel that is our duty to teach our children how to keep themselves safe and healthy. Starting with the youngest children, in 2s Can, we encourage basic hygiene practices, including cleaning noses and hand washing.
During your time with us you will take part in pedestrian training, daily tooth brushing in Reception and Y1, learn how to give CPR, gain skills to keep safe in the home, how to be safe around dogs, learn to be a safe cyclist and take part in anti-bullying and mindfulness workshops throughout the school year. We will also help parents to keep you safe by offering workshops in road safety and the opportunity to get you measured for the correct car seat. We have swimming as part of our P.E. provision for Y3 children. We believe it is very important that you become a confident swimmer as soon as possible, so you can keep yourself safe in and around all types of water.
Spiritual, moral, social and cultural education
At Horton Grange Primary School we want our children to become successful, confident and caring citizens of our diverse world. Our curriculum is designed to support this through areas such as six main religions, the PSHE spiral curriculum, fundamental British values, equality and diversity and community cohesion. You will take part in faith celebrations such as Christmas, Eid and Diwali. Events such as Stephen Lawrence week and Black History Month will help you to learn about equality, diversity and the importance of the local and worldwide community. Our school council elections will give you the opportunity to choose the person you would like to represent your class and give you a voice in the way our school is run.
There are lots of opportunities for children to take part in before, lunchtime and after school clubs. These include football, cricket, cookery, chess, art and crafts, multi-sports and film club. There are also before and after school booster sessions to help you with your learning in maths, reading and writing. Our breakfast club is also well attended and provides a healthy breakfast plus a range of activities for you to enjoy.
These are just some of the wide range of learning opportunities you will encounter as a pupil at Horton Grange Primary School.
