Reminder – Parents should not take their children out of school or abroad during term time. The government states that schools can only authorise extended periods of absence in exceptional circumstances, for a maximum of 10 sessions (5 school days).

If your child will be out of school for more than 10 sessions (5 school days), a fine will be issued by Bradford Council – This fine is currently £60 per parent, per child (Correct December 2018). Eg: This means that two parents taking two children out of school would be fined £240 (£120 for each parent). Please note, that if not paid within the time frame on the fixed penalty letter, this fine will increase to double the original amount.
